Welcome to our first Ocean City, Maryland Community Guide! Our goal is to shine the light on some of the best communities at (and near) the beach, highlighting the features, conveniences, and differences between them.
In Part 1 of this Community Guide series, we’re focusing on three communities that are similar in some ways but are also different and unique in their own respects. If you're looking to live the coastal lifestyle on the eastern shore of Maryland without buying a property that’s “In The Heart” of Ocean City, then this is the right Guide for you!
Living At The Beach – What’s It Like?
Ocean City has a lot to offer; whether you want to live ‘on’ the beach, ‘in’ Ocean City, or even just someplace nearby, there truly is something for everyone here on the ‘Shore’.
Our area is rich in outdoor activities, highlighted by water access to countless bays, beaches, inlets, and the Atlantic Ocean. No matter where you are when you’re here, you’ll enjoy easy access to countless amazing restaurants, golf courses, fishing charters, activities, events, and so much more.
For those of you that looking for a true ‘Beach Home’ (whether that’s Ocean or Bay, or anything in between), go check out our blog about the different areas within Ocean City, MD.
While the communities we're introducing you today are located just outside of Ocean City ‘proper’, they all have easy access to the beach, and lots of conveniences that might make them a great fit for your next beach-home.
Throughout this blog we'll try to paint a bit of a picture of what living in one of these communities would be like. We'll show what the community itself has to offer, as well as a few of our favorite activities and restaurants nearby!

Decatur Farm
First up, we have Decatur Farm. Originally developed in the early 2000’s, this community is located about 10-15 minutes west of downtown Ocean City, just outside of downtown Berlin Md.
Decatur Farm features over 200 homes and has both single family homes and townhomes, meaning it's a suitable place for a wide range of budgets.
This neighborhood is ideal for such a wide range of buyers. We’ve helped our clients find a great retirement home in this community. We’ve helped first-time home buyers get started in this community. We’ve helped our clients upgrade from a townhome to a larger single-family home, in this community.
With its easy-going friendly atmosphere, central location, and the great community amenities, Decatur Farm is a popular Coastal Community for a reason.

Living in Decatur Farm, you're just a short drive to downtown Berlin, MD (Voted America’s Coolest Small Town, and home to Hollywood Blockbuster The Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts). Berlin is known for its great local restaurants, shops, farmers market, and fun seasonal events!
Decatur Farm is also a short drive away from Stephan Decatur Park, Baja Amusements (one of our favorite Go-Kart Tracks), Glen Riddle Golf Course, and Eagles Landing Golf Course.
Furthermore, you're only a 15-minute drive to Ocean City where you'll find countless more activities, including Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk!

The Sterling Tavern- This is a great place for lunch or to grab some delicious comfort food!
The Blacksmith- This is a great place for date night or a birthday dinner!

Glen Riddle
Glen Riddle is a gated community located between West Ocean City and Berlin. This community is one of the most premier communities in Worcester County known for its well-run association, two 18-hole golf courses, impressive amenity package, and the great homes available within the community.
Glen Riddle is perfect for those that love having everything available at their fingertips, with easy access to everything in Worcester County. It's a great neighborhood for those raising a family, those who are looking for a place to retire, for anyone that loves golf, and anyone looking for a great second-home. With properties that range from large waterfront single family homes to interior townhomes and marina-front condo’s, this community has a wide range of options.

Living in Glen Riddle places you about 5 minutes from Downtown Berlin, and 10 minutes from Ocean City. It’s also home to 2 championship golf courses.
Conveniently located a few short miles away from Glen Riddle is the West Ocean City Tanger Outlets which has a wide range of stores that are perfect for those who love shopping.
And let’s not forget how close you are to Assateague Island, one of the areas greatest natural treasures. Assateague is most famous for being home to wild horses on the beach, but it’s really so much more than that! Assateague offers amazing hiking, trails, fishing, kayaking, boating, beach-going, and so much more.

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse- Many of you are already familiar with Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, but this is a great place to eat for a special occasion or grab a drink after your round of golf! Oh, and we almost forgot to mention- Ruth's Chris is right in the neighborhood!
Pancho and Lefty's- This is one of our favorite places to get Mexican food!
Mione's Pizza West OC- This is a great option for your gameday party or an easy Pizza Night!

Ocean Pines
Last, but certainly not least on todays’ list is Ocean Pines.
Ocean Pines is arguably the largest community in our area, making up its own sub-section of Berlin, MD with thousands of properties within its boundaries. So, it should come as no surprise that it also boasts a very wide variety of housing options and opportunities.
Here, you'll find just about everything from older homes that need a bit of love tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac to stunning Million plus dollar homes on a waterfront lot.
Ocean Pines is a particularly popular choice for retirees and people raising families because of the community amenities (more on that later), quiet atmosphere, and nearby activities.

Living in Ocean Pines means you have a number of activities that are right in the neighborhood! Ocean Pines has everything from private tennis lessons and Pickleball tournaments to Youth basketball leagues and skateboarding classes. Not only that there’s also exercise classes, nutrition and cooking classes. Don’t forget about the Golf Course right in the neighborhood too!
We truly could go on and on about all of the different activities in Ocean Pines. Don’t forget that you’re right next to the Rt. 90 bridge as well- so you’re not too far from Ocean City either.
